The 1980's

The 1980's can be characterized by a great start and a fantastic ending with very mediocre years in between. In 1989 Mansfield won the most games in a season in its 71 year history and went to the Superbowl for the first time under the guidance of Mike Redding, a former North Attleboro and Holy Cross All-Star Receiver, coaching his first full season at Mansfield. The 1989 team scored the most points since 1957 and gave up the fewest points since 1976, the last time they were Hockomock Champions. For the decade Mansfield finished just shy of .500 at 47-49-5 (.490).
